ACF x Twist x Quadrivio Group

Connecting AI compute infrastructure with circular technology.

The Africa Compute Fund has signed a Letter of Intent with Twist, following a collaboration pathway supported by Quadrivio Group and the AI Hub for Sustainable Development.

The collaboration explores how refurbished digital devices can complement African AI compute infrastructure deployments by supporting the endpoint layer required for practical implementation on the ground.

Twist is an Italian company active in the refurbishment and distribution of smartphones, laptops, tablets, and other digital devices. Its model combines access to affordable hardware with a circular economy approach, extending the life cycle of electronic devices and contributing to the reduction of e-waste.

For ACF, this is an important part of the broader deployment stack. High-performance compute infrastructure is essential, but real-world AI adoption also depends on the devices, access points, and deployment environments through which users, institutions, researchers, enterprises, and communities interact with AI systems.

As ACF develops pathways for African AI compute access, the endpoint layer becomes especially relevant for applied deployments in education, research, agriculture, health, public-sector services, enterprise AI, and startup ecosystems. Refurbished laptops, tablets, smartphones, and related devices can help support more accessible, sustainable, and practical implementation models across African markets.

Quadrivio Group has played an important role, bringing its experience across Italian industrial innovation, investment, and ecosystem development into the collaboration pathway. The engagement reflects the value of linking African AI infrastructure needs with Italian circular technology, industrial capability, and sustainable innovation networks.

Through this Letter of Intent, ACF and Twist will explore areas of cooperation around refurbished hardware access, deployment support, ecosystem-building activities, and practical device pathways that can complement AI compute infrastructure and localized AI deployment.

This collaboration was developed through the AI Hub for Sustainable Development ecosystem and reflects the growing bridge between African innovators and the Italian circular technology ecosystem.

This marks another step in ACF’s work to build the infrastructure, partnerships, and deployment ecosystem required for Africa’s AI future.
