The Transition Program

A practical framework for businesses to adopt & scale AI.

Over the past year, we’ve been building the Africa Compute Fund with one clear mission: provide the infrastructure that makes AI real. GPUs, orchestration, data pipelines, and access models that put compute directly into the hands of researchers, startups, enterprises, and governments.

Infrastructure on its own, though, isn’t enough. Many institutions understand AI is coming, but don’t know how to begin. They see the global announcements, the breakthroughs, the headlines — but turning all of that into something concrete inside their business is another story.

That’s why we’ve created something new: The Transition Program.

What It Is

The Transition Program is a structured pathway designed to help businesses move from “AI is interesting” to “AI is integrated.” It’s not just advice, and it’s not just compute. It’s a full system that gives institutions the resources, access, and support they need to actually implement AI in their operations.

Think of it as a bridge. On one side, you have today’s workflows, teams, and infrastructure. On the other side, you have an AI-enabled business: faster, more efficient, ready for the future. The Transition Program is how you cross that bridge.

When you join the Transition Program, you’re not getting generic consulting. You’re plugging directly into the infrastructure we’ve been building. That includes:

  • GPU Access – Direct integration with Monarch, our orchestration system. Early access to powerful GPUs, including H100s, A100s, and local GPU capacity based in Africa. This is scarce infrastructure that most businesses cannot get on their own.

  • Datasets – Access to curated data resources, including the Monarch Africa Dataset. Localized, high-quality data that ensures models are trained and tuned for African markets and contexts.

  • Engineering Support – Our team works with yours to review your data, identify use cases, fine-tune models, and help with integration. This is hands-on, technical support, not just a set of recommendations.

  • Custom Roadmap – A tailored plan showing how your business can integrate AI within months, not years. We identify opportunities for efficiency, cost reduction, customer experience improvements, and revenue growth.

  • Reservations Pathway – Institutions in the program get access to compute reservations. This means you can secure future GPU capacity at scale, locking in your position as AI demand accelerates.

  • ROI Focus – Every step of the program is measured. The goal is clear: show you the return on investment from AI adoption, not in abstract potential but in your day-to-day operations.

Becoming an AI business is an infrastructure shift. And for businesses in Africa, that shift comes with unique challenges: infrastructure availability, data localization requirements, regulatory frameworks, and energy costs.

What’s needed is an approach built for our context—one that ensures survival and competitiveness. This program brings the infrastructure, the datasets, and the support directly into African businesses, helping them move faster without wasting time or resources.

Startups that embed AI into their products will scale faster and reach markets that were previously inaccessible. Banks that integrate AI in fraud detection and customer service will pull ahead. Telcos that use AI for network optimization will lower costs and improve reliability. Universities that train students on real AI infrastructure will graduate the next generation of talent.

We also want to seed new startups in frontier fields—robotics, biotech, renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, and space—that can take advantage of Africa’s unique challenges and opportunities.

We are creating the conditions for breakthroughs that wouldn’t happen otherwise, and positioning African founders at the center of industries that will define the next century.

The Process

The program runs in structured cohorts. A limited number of businesses are selected to work directly with us. Once accepted, your institution goes through three main stages:

  1. Audit – We review your infrastructure, data, and workflows.

  2. Integration – You gain direct access to GPUs, datasets, and engineering support. Together, we implement pilot projects and quick wins.

  3. Scaling – We help you expand successful pilots into core business operations, backed by reservations that guarantee future compute capacity.

Every stage is designed to shorten the distance between ideas and execution.

This first cohort is limited. We want to work directly with forward-looking founders and help them move fast, so that they become proof points for the rest of the continent.

If your business is serious about AI, this is your chance to move early. We hope many institutions can use this program to transform their businesses and prepare for the future.
